Treating (and Experiencing) Combat Stress in Afghanistan & Iraq
We often hear of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq without first-hand knowledge of the toll it takes on those who serve. Eldene Towey (Afghanistan 2012-2013) and Paul Ibarra (Iraq 2005-2006) served in combat operations as both psychiatrist and marine. Now they work as mental health clinicians for the Veterans Administration helping returning vets deal with the visible and invisible wounds of war. Tonight they will share their experience of deployment and return to civilian life and offer advice on how we can best say ‘welcome home’
