Training Program: Advanced Training Sequel

The Advanced Training Sequel

Graduates of the EGPS Training Program, or its equivalent, can opt to pursue training via advanced consultation which helps to refine leadership skills. Group therapists, relatively new to leading groups, delve into the challenges they face in doing group therapy. With the help of a seasoned group practitioner, the consultation group processes clinical dilemmas, explores psychodynamic and theoretical questions, and develops group leadership skills.

Hear from graduates of the 2nd year program about their experience.

The Advanced trainees meet in a weekly group for 90-minute sessions, 30 in the academic year. The Advanced Training Program costs $1,800. The 2026-2027 program will meet on Zoom.

One year of this additional consultation fulfills the supervisory requirements of the Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) credential. Students are responsible to go to the AGPA website for specific requirements in your discipline for the CGP.

A third year may be offered for those wanting to further develop their group leadership skills.

For more information contact Virginia Seewaldt or Joan Wittig.

Our tuition model reinforces the idea that everyone who participates in the training program agrees to be working together toward a goal of anti-racist/anti-oppressive action and collective liberation. Our responsibility for the integrity of the program and for maintaining our alignment with its mission and vision supports a tuition model consistent with a commitment to reparations for Black and Indigenous people. Racial equity is woven into both the educational content and into the financial model.
