EGPS Seminar Series - Sunday, 4/14/24 on Zoom - Good Clinical Practice Is Anti-Racist (GCAR) - Co-Facilitators: Drs. Fabiola Desmont & Chera M Finnis

Event Description:

Sunday
April 14th

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

ON ZOOM

Good Clinical Practice Is Anti-Racist (GCAR)

Co-Facilitators:
Drs. Fabiola Desmont & Chera M Finnis

This workshop will be a process-oriented, experiential workshop that is open to all clinicians interested in exploring and developing strategies that help them better integrate solid clinical practices that are inherently anti-racist. By increasing practitioners 'ability to tolerate discomfort, ambiguity, and the complexities of intersectionality in the clinical process of groups, the group will work to raise the consciousness of its membership and support the examination of the relevant issues that impact the clinical processes, e.g., social justice, racism, oppression, power, privilege, white supremacy culture, etc. The workshop will be co-facilitated by two senior clinicians from Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society's One Year Group Psychotherapy Training Program. We believe that the positive practices of an ethical and conscious application of clinical skills are inherently anti-racist. The more seamless this integration process is, the more positive impact there is in the group process. Good clinical practice is anti-racist.

Workshop Objectives
  • Assist practitioners in exploring ways to integrate anti-racist and clinical practice.
  • Support exploration and examination of biases that enter the clinical practice arena
