The Power of Mindful Communication Techniques for Enlivening Couples Work and Enriching Groups

Alison Bulman, LCSW

In this two-hour journey through the simple yet impactful nuances of mindful communication strategies, therapists can expect to acquire exquisite tools for establishing gentler, more productive conversations with couples and groups. Hear the common defenses that obstruct true connection, learn to speak from the heart without eliciting them; speak more spontaneous, authentic feelings without intellectualizing; understand the counterintuitive way to start to solve problems by NOT talking about them. Experience the freedom of not changing or fixing another person’s feelings by staying curious and present. Have these tools forever to use in your practice with clients, in your romantic life, with friends, coworkers, family and your children. Get to sample what a more mindful approach makes possible in all your relationships.

Topics to be covered:

  • Top Ten Common Unconscious Blocks to Intimacy
  • Ten Ground Rules for Communication
  • Sentence Stems and How to Use Them
  • Group Practice of Noticing Sentence Stem
  • Demonstration of Mindful Communication Technique
  • Group Processing of Experiential Impact
