Discussions of race and racism in the United States tend to quickly settle into a "Black and White" conversation, focusing on perspectives of those two groups. When other racial and ethnic identities are included in these conversations, it can sometimes appear almost like an afterthought, allowing little time for the exploration of experiences specific to those other groups.

The discussions of racism typically heard in multi-racial/multi-ethnic contexts tend to overlook those with Asian and Asian-American identities in particular. And yet, members of the Asian and African Diasporas alike experience the ill effects of living with the structural white supremacy of our country.

Why do conversations about race so frequently unfold in this same way? Does the culture of white supremacy take a "divide-and-conquer" approach to dis-empowering People of Color? How can we do things differently, so that African-American and Asian-American peoples can support each other and remain aligned in our struggles against systemic racism? Please join us as we consider these questions and more, and enrich the discussion by adding your voice.

As food-for-thought, and perhaps to inform our conversation, please consider reading and/or viewing some of the following resources.
