Trauma Bonds and their Impact on Group Work

This presentation will take a look at how trauma bonds show up in the group space. Trauma bonds have weak boundaries and occur when someone has experienced trauma, and their personal feelings and worldview become enmeshed with their abuser. After introducing and explaining trauma bonds and their impact on groups, Dr Jackson will present a related case study, including the treatment plan and present outcomes. Participants will be invited to discuss and consider the case and topic together. The presentation will close with an experiential portion, allowing participants' to explore their related experiences, emotions, and thoughts.
Bio: Dr. JaQuinda Jackson Ed.D, NCC, LPC is a trauma informed therapist in private practice in South Carolina. Dr. Jackson offers virtual healing groups for helping professionals and athletes in order to increase positive emotional health while working to decrease emotional distress. Dr. Jackson has curated a personal burnout assessment that individuals are able to utilize in order to assess personal emotional health daily. Dr. Jackson's most prized claim to fame is being married to her best friend and being a mother to her two boys.
