Finding the Fear: A Couple Therapy Training Workshop - Lee Kassan, MA
Event Description:This workshop for couple therapists will show how to shift couples from the conflict that brings them into treatment to genuine intimacy by fostering the emotional dialogue and revealing the hidden and unexpressed fears that lie behind the fight. Lee will show how to build resilience by teaching principles and demonstrating techniques for fostering effective emotional communication in the context of three common couple dynamics. In doing so we will uncover the hidden and unexpressed fears that underlie the problem that brings them into treatment.
Lee D. Kassan, MA, LPsyA, LMHC, CGP, has practiced as a psychotherapist since 1980, and is a Licensed Psychoanalyst, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. He is the Editor of the journal GROUP, having been Associate Editor for 12 years. He has written six books about psychotherapy, including Shrink Rap: Sixty Psychotherapists Discuss Their Work, Their Lives, and the State of Their Field; Who Could We Ask?: The Gestalt Therapy of Michael Kriegsfeld; Peer Supervision Groups: How They Work and Why You Need One; and most recently Finding the Fear: A Couple Therapy Training Workshop. In addition to working with couples and groups, he also specializes in work with creative artists, actors, musicians, and writers.
