Racism and Policing Part III: Where Do We Go From Here?

In the third of our three part series on racism and policing, we look at next steps. Now that we understand the racist historical underpinnings of policing and prisons in the US, and we've read how Black people with mental vulnerabilities are even more at risk for experiencing police violence, we're going to finish (for now) by reading two compelling articles in favor of defunding the police. One article written by Colin Kaepernick, the other by Angela Davis.

* What thoughts and feelings does the phrase "Defund the police" evoke in me?
* Where do I feel these feelings in my body?
After reading the two articles, I revisit the phrase "Defund the police."
* Do I notice any shifts in how that lands in my body?
* What new thoughts or feelings do I become aware of now?
