Circling is not the same as Group therapy. Circling is a form of interpersonal meditation that happens in a group. It is a gathering in which you attend both to yourself and other people in a profoundly immediate way. In circling, you “own your own experience” by becoming aware of your feelings, bodily sensations, thoughts and impulses. When your attention is on another person, your feelings, bodily sensations, thoughts, inferences and judgments about that person become your “story” that may or may not be true.
We have found circling useful to our work as group leaders in developing emotional awareness and holding self and others in mind.
We invite you to come to explore being with yourself and others in the moment — to consider the value of circling practices and to share reflections about the meaning of the experience. Jeff Muller and Wayne Ayers will introduce Alison Bulman and Vincenzo Minino, two experienced leaders, who will guide the circling, followed by a discussion and time to reflect on the experience.
Don’t miss this opportunity!
