Therapist as Person: Managing Powerful Life Experiences in Our Group Work - Robin Good, PhD, CGP, FAGPAEvent Description:
This workshop begins with a synopsis of the particular challenges group therapists face managing their personal exposure and vulnerability during traumas, as well as the needs and reactions of the group.
Didactic issues will include: What is profoundly different between individual and group work in this context? What are some of the issues to stay tuned to for the group therapist? Which techniques and skills do we summon during these hard times? How do we protect/manage both ourselves and the group, without sacrificing learning?
I will share a personal group scenario. It will be followed by an experiential process focusing on the feelings and struggles engendered in each of us when our personal lives/crises penetrate our work.
