The Forgotten Only Child in Interpersonal Therapy Groups
Article Abstract:
Rates of only children are rising in many countries throughout the world, including the United States. The experience of an only child needs to be better understood to support these clients in group therapy and to help them integrate into a world they have never personally experienced—that of interacting with siblings. By examining unique aspects of the only-child experience, I hope to aid group leaders in becoming culturally competent with this growing population.
