Terror Topics : Sexuality and Culture in Group Psychotherapy - Ed Elder & Judith White

Event Description:

This workshop will explore issues of sexuality and culture, topics that often engender anxiety and terror. We will explore resistances to discussing the intersection between sexuality and culture and offer interventions to increase the comfort of group members to discuss these issues. Cultural issues can include members’ religion, ethnicity, class, gender identity, as well as age.  We will discuss the distinction between sexual feelings and behavior in a psychodynamic group and working through sexual dysfunctions in a specialty group. The intersectionality of gender, ethnicity and class as they shape discussion of sexuality will also be addressed.
