[Ec] For EC support (ASAP): EGPS community dinner during AGPA

Dear EC:

As part of our ad hoc Hosting Committee, Hilary Levine has offered to
coordinate a dinner for EGPS members (and not-yet-members) on Thursday
March 5. The details are laid out below.

The plan is to send an invitation out to the member list (hoping to
announce by Friday). Assuming slots are still available, we will then post
an invitation/sign-up at the EGPS booth.

Any questions or concerns? Or can we support this plan?

The only specific question that remains in the air is whether EGPS could
support some "scholarship" meals. The EC could approve this on our own if
we dedicate $200 or less to this. Perhaps we could offer partial discounts,
and let folks know in the invitation that if cost is a barrier up to 10
people couple pay $15 instead of $35. How does that sound?

*As we discussed, I have made a reservation at Fraunces Tavern
(https://www.frauncestavern.com <https://www.frauncestavern.com>) for
between 15-25 people on Thursday, March 5th at 8PM. We will be asking
people to sign up and pay for dinner in advance (using either Zelle or
Venmo). I have done my best to find a restaurant that would allow us to
keep the cost down to make this event available to all EGPS members who
would like to attend. Are we able to put any organizational funds towards
supporting members for whom the cost might be prohibitive?To simplify
things, I chose 6 entrees from the menu that people could choose from and
that are about the same price ($26). I added tax and gratuity ($9) which in
sum comes out to a  total of $35/person. This is not including any drinks.
Fraunces Tavern has an incredible beer, wine, and cocktail list. Anyone who
is interested in having a drink aside from tap water, would be asked to
purchase that from the bar and to pay for it themselves.Fraunces tavern is
located at 54 Pearl Street which is two blocks from the South Ferry Station
(R or 1 Train), about 30 minutes by train from the Sheraton Hotel where
Connect is taking place. I'm thinking we could meet in the hotel lobby at
7:15pm.*
